Ghostly Image Captured by Demolition Crew

A demolition crew in Kendal, Crumbia snapped a photo just before demolishing an old Victorian Guesthouse (Meadowbank House). When the picture was developed, the crew was stunned to see what appears to be a ghostly woman staring out of a window in the Victorian home.

David Grimshaw, who used to reside at Meadowbank House, believes that the image is of his mother who died nearly year ago, but worked at the home. She was often seen standing at the very same window at which the eerie figure is seen standing.

That is my mother. I’m totally convinced – no one else looks like that. She had glasses and big earrings and she used to wear a dress with a bow at the front. She used to stand in that room for hours on the phone – it was the guesthouse reception and she took bookings from there.

Grimshaw believes that his mother, Frances Grimshaw, would have been upset about the destruction of the guesthouse and was probably showing her disapproval. Frances had adored the home that she worked in.

Workers had also reported strange experiences while preparing the home for demolition. One worker said the “hairs of his neck stood on end”, and the chandelier would swing by itself, causing some workers to become rather uncomfortable.

The home has now been replaced with a new commercial building and one can’t help but to wonder, if Frances will continue her protest as the new tenants move in.
